Compassion Games Invites the World to Prove Peace Is Possible

“We the People Choose Peace” launches a global call for a worldwide ceasefire and day of nonviolence on September 21

Too often, people are spectators to war and peace,” said Jon Ramer, cofounder of Compassion Games. “We the People Choose Peace unites us to prove peace is possible.”

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, August 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Compassion Games: Survival of the Kindest today issued a worldwide Call to Play, inviting people everywhere to join a growing movement to Prove Peace Is Possible.

At the heart of the campaign is We the People Choose Peace, a global call for individuals and organizations to support a verified 24-hour humanitarian pause, ceasefire, and day of nonviolence on September 21, the United Nations International Day of Peace—and to invite every party to reciprocate.

People everywhere are invited to add their names, share why they choose peace, and carry the call into their communities and networks.

The call begins with a simple conviction: peace cannot be left solely to governments, institutions, or those directly involved in conflict. It must also rise from people of every country, culture, faith, community, and generation who are ready to say together:

We choose peace. We call upon those with the authority to choose a ceasefire. And we commit to doing our part to make peace real.

A Compassion Game for Humanity
Proving Peace Is Possible is part of Compassion Games: Survival of the Kindest, a global movement that turns compassion into action through “co-opetition”—cooperative play dedicated to shared goals and collective victories. In this Compassion Game, no one wins at another’s expense. Humanity wins when violence is interrupted, suffering is reduced, relationships are restored, and new possibilities for peace emerge.

“Too often, people are treated as spectators to decisions about war and peace,” said Jon Ramer, co-founder of Compassion Games. “We the People Choose Peace gives everyone a meaningful way to stand together, make our collective will visible, and call upon those with the authority to choose a ceasefire. We are learning to practice peace, organize for it, and prove that it is possible.”

Guided by Indigenous Wisdom
The campaign is grounded in Indigenous leadership and the understanding that peace is more than the absence of war. Lasting peace requires right relationship—with ourselves, one another, Mother Earth, and future generations.

“Peace begins within each of us, but it cannot end there,” said Chief Phil Lane Jr., founder of Four Worlds International Institute and chair of Compassion Games International. “It must become right relationship among peoples, nations, and all life. When we choose peace together, we begin creating a future worthy of the generations yet to come.”

Honoring the Vision of Peace One Day
The campaign builds upon the pioneering vision of Jeremy Gilley, founder of Peace One Day, whose work over the past 25 years helped establish September 21 as an internationally recognized day of ceasefire and nonviolence.

“Jeremy Gilley had the courage to imagine a day when the entire world could choose peace together,” said Ramer. “We honor that vision by inviting people everywhere to help make September 21 not only a symbol of peace, but a lived demonstration that peace is possible.”

We the People Choose Peace carries that vision forward by mobilizing people, organizations, and decision-makers to support a worldwide ceasefire, practice nonviolence, and invite every party to reciprocate.

Building Peace Through Unity
Compassion Games and UNITY EARTH are building toward Peace Through Unity Weekend, September 18–21, a four-day global convergence of Indigenous leaders, peacebuilders, communities, spiritual and civic leaders, youth, humanitarian organizations, artists, and technology partners.

“Peace Through Unity is more than an event—it is a living demonstration of what becomes possible when we remember that we belong to one human family,” said Ben Bowler, founder and executive director of UNITY EARTH. “We are inviting people everywhere to cross the boundaries that divide us, stand together for peace, and help make September 21 a day when humanity chooses another way.”

The campaign will also build through the 11-Day Global Compassion Challenge, September 11–21, held as part of the 11 Days of Global Unity. Peace Through Unity Weekend will unfold in four stages:

September 18 — Open the Way: Prepare the ground through prayer, ceremony, reflection, and intention

September 19 — Come Together: Connect people, organizations, movements, and communities across differences

September 20 — Live Peace: Put peace into practice through compassionate action, reconciliation, and service

September 21 — Choose Peace: Stand together for a worldwide ceasefire and day of nonviolence

Additional announcements will spotlight Indigenous leadership, introduce participating teams, and invite frontier artificial intelligence labs into a co-opetition for peace.

Add Your Name. Share Your Commitment. Invite Others.
